FINAL THOUGHTS: By Tom Leyden
Allright, I have 38 seconds to get in my
final thought before the buzzer sounds. 38 seconds. That's all
it took for the sport of boxing to further embarrass itself on
Saturday night. Let's review. Mike Tyson travels to Scotland
to take on Lou Savarese, this decade's coming of Peter McNeeley.
Savarese and Tyson get in the ring together and you just knew
this wasn't going to take long.
In what other sport could a man knock out
his promoter, have his right to work in a country questioned
because of his criminal record, and then earn $210,527 per second
for not even breaking a sweat.
What was it? Two punches? Three, four?
You'd be hard pressed to find five punches that connected.
That's 38 seconds. And that's my final
thought
